Our Mission and Outreach committee is dedicated to serving the needy through providing meals at two Quad Cities locations. We support the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry through physical donations and cash contributions and have participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring for many years. We host a Blood Drive every May through the Mississippi Valley Bloodmobile and refreshments are served to those working and donating blood. For many years we have hosted a hot meal site during the Geneseo Christmas Walk evening in December. Money raised from that event directly supports a number of charities including the Geneseo Humane Society, Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry, Henry County Rebuilding Together and Backpack Blessings. First Presbyterian also provides space for Geneseo Family & Marriage Counseling. This low-cost counseling helps many individuals and families who would not be able to afford this valuable service.
Education is provided from ages 3 years through adult with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation and Senior High Youth classes during the school year. Adults meet every Wednesday afternoon for Bible study on various topics lead by our pastor. You are never too young or too old to learn something new from God’s Word!
We love to get together to share fellowship time. We enjoy lively discussion after worship at our coffee time. We participate in the Geneseo Ministerial Association sponsored Men’s Lenten Breakfast and host one of the Saturday morning meals during Lent. Our church women meet once a month for refreshments, conversation and study on the 4th Monday of each month (September-May). We share in special worship services with First Congregational Church, Geneseo, on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and a service held in a local garden in the summer. We’d love to add you to our circle of friends!
